SOUTHERN GROWN, ORGANIC SPECIALTY MUSHROOMS

ORGANIC MUSHROOMS FOR ALL.

Slowpoke was conjured up over beers in 2019 among four mushroom enthusiasts working at a brewery together. At first, the discussion centered around the lack of availability of high-quality organic mushrooms. The mighty mushroom’s ability to save the world carried the conversation forward to 2022 when the farm finally had a physical location. Insert a fifth mushroom lover from out of town into the mix, and Slowpoke Farms was created.

Our goal is to fill a gap in the market by providing high quality organic mushrooms throughout the southeastern United States. Fueled by our passion for innovation and environmental stewardship, we are making premium organic mushrooms a staple in commercial and residential kitchens. Today, we supply our neighbors with high quality, nourishing foods. Tomorrow, we shape the world to provide a brighter future for all.

MEET THE TEAM

  • Lab Manager

Overseer of spawn production and quality control. Lauren is a lover of the outdoors and never afraid to experiment with something new. Before her time at Slowpoke, her Master of Science degree in Microbiology served her well in maintaining yeast strains for beer production at SOPRO and for R&D of cancer treatments at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

  • Production Manager

Keeper of the effectiveness and efficiency of the facility.

Hank’s love of plants led him to pursue a BA in Botany from the University of Southern Mississippi. During his studies of plants, he learned the importance of fungi in their development, sparking an appreciation and passion for mushrooms.

  • Director of Sales and Marketing

As an avid hiker, Colby has been foraging wild mushrooms while out on the trail for years. His passion for environmental sustainability and professional performance is the perfect match for organic produce. When he’s not managing the marketing or meeting with customers, you can find him outside: reading, hiking, or floating on a body of water.

  • Facility Maintenance

Her love of music led her to study electronics in college where she completed a BFA in Theater Tech and Design with an emphasis on lighting and sound. After becoming certified to forage and sell mushrooms, Leeann joined the Slowpoke team. Her skills and creativity are essential to help the farm thrive.
